Base Class: Paladin
Oath of Scorching Grace
Paladins of Rasha, the Fox Primordial of Fire
Not all fires consume; some illuminate. Those who swear the Oath of Scorching Grace follow Rasha, the Primordial Fox of Fire—a being of wild wisdom and elegant destruction. These paladins do not crush evil with brute force; they outwit it, lure it in, and burn it away with radiant elegance. Their fire is not just flame—it is judgment, beauty, passion, and cleverness, forged into a single radiant oath.
Tenets of Scorching Grace
Paladins of this oath may interpret their vows in wildly personal ways, but all follow some variation of these core tenets:
-
Kindle the Spirit – Ignite hope in others through strength, words, or action.
-
Grace in Fury – Violence should be as beautiful as a waltz and as sharp as truth.
-
Revel in Radiance – Be unapologetically bright. Let your spirit shine.
-
Outfox the Wicked – Use cunning over cruelty. Outsmart, then overwhelm.
Level 3: Oath Spells
The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of the Scorching Grace Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | hellish rebuke, charm person |
| 5th | mirror image, scorching ray |
| 9th | hypnotic pattern, fireball |
| 13th | greater invisibility, wall of fire |
| 17th | flame strike, dominate person |
Rasha's Dance
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options:
1. Foxfire Veil
As an action, you wreathe yourself in elegant, shimmering flames that dance like a fox's tail. For 1 minute, or until you are incapacitated:
-
You shed bright light in a 20-foot radius.
-
Attackers within 10 feet of you take fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) whenever they hit you with a melee attack.
-
You may use your reaction to impose disadvantage on one attack roll against you, as the flames twist the attacker’s perception.
Optional Flavor Mechanic: While this effect is active, your movement leaves faint burning pawprints that vanish after 6 seconds.
2. Smoldering Words
As an action, you speak with divine fire behind your words. Choose a creature within 30 feet that can hear you. They must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, they are also wreathed in harmless firelight and have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you.
Creatures can repeat the save at the end of each of their turns. Once a creature succeeds, it is immune to this ability for 24 hours.
Aura of Flare
Your fiery presence radiates with glamour and menace. When an enemy within 10 feet of you deals damage to a creature other than you, they take fire damage equal to your proficiency bonus. Invisible creatures that enter your aura lose their invisibility.
At 18th level, the range increases to 30 feet.
Tail of the Flame Fox
-
You are immune to fire damage.
-
Whenever you cast a spell that deals fire damage, you can choose one target of the spell. That target has disadvantage on the saving throw (or you gain advantage on the attack roll against it). This can only occur once per short rest.
-
If you drop to 0 hit points but aren’t killed outright, you instead vanish in a burst of foxfire and reappear in an unoccupied space within 30 feet, regaining hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your paladin level. This can only occur once per long rest.
Avatar of Rasha
-
Your movement speed is doubled
-
Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d10 fire damage, and this damage ignores resistance.
-
Enemies who begin their turn within 10 feet of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed until the start of their next turn.
-
You may use Smite of the Foxfire once per turn: after you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause it to ignite. The target takes an additional 3d10 fire damage and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the start of your next turn.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest to use it again.
