Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Anticipation is bound to a paladin who is willing to take preventative measures to any extreme to safeguard themselves and those they care for. Sometimes called prophets, oracle knights, or more often, Slaves to Paranoia. These paladins do not wish to meet a challenge head on if it can be avoided, rather they wish to prevent harm before the possibility can occur and though most conflict is unavoidable an Anticipating Paladin is ready to put a stop to it. Many who swear this oath are swayed due to their previous failures or fears, though there are many who view the prevention of conflict as an optimistic ideal, rather than a desperate one. Many gods who know of premonition, guardians and strategy grant the power of this oath to Paladins, but many find the power from within themselves.

Mind of the Prepared

Due to your obsession with you and your allies safety, you are on edge around stranger places and people. When you roll an Insight or Perception check, you can choose to add your Charisma Modifier, but will have to roll the check at disadvantage.

Level 3: Oath of Anticipation Spells

The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Anticipation Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Oath of Anticipation Spells
Paladin Level Spells
3 Detect Evil and Good, Detect Poison and Disease
5 Find Traps, Zone of Truth
9 Clairvoyance, Counterspell
13 Divination, Death Ward
17 Scrying, Dispel Evil and Good

Level 3: Total Rebuke

As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to force a creature within 60ft to make a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC. For 10 minutes or until you use this feature again, when that creature makes an attack against you or anyone within your Aura of Protection, you can make an opportunity attack against them, ignoring the range of your attack. On a hit you deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage. You can expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to prevent your reaction from being consumed by this opportunity attack.

You can end this effect early (no action required). This effect also ends if the creature dies.

Level 7: Aura of Anticipation

You and your allies have advantage when performing opportunity attacks while in your Aura of Devotion. If an ally would suffer an opportunity attack when moving in, through or out of the Aura of Devotion, they gain resistance to the damage of those attacks.

Level 15: Preventative Smite

Whenever you cast [/spells] Divine Smite [/spells], on a hit, the target creature rolls all attacks and saving throws, at disadvantage until the start of their next turn.

Level 20: Oracular Templar

As a Bonus Action, you can imbue your Aura of Anticipation with the knowledge of the near future, granting the benefits below for 10 minutes or until you end them (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).

Future Sight. You are under the effects of [/spells]Foresight[/spells/].

Radiant Damage. Whenever an enemy is hit by an opportunity attack, they take an additional 2d8 radiant damage.

Oracle Vision. You gain darkvision out to 120ft.
