Base Class: Artificer

As an Arcanist you study mystical phenomena over more physical mediums. Arcanists strive to understand the innerworkings of all magic around them and use their knowledge to greater control and alter the effects of magic they use.

Prismatic Filters

3rd-level  Arcanist feature

Using various gemstones or lenses you channel magic to have greater effects, or to disperse attacks.

Starting at level 3, you learn 2 of the following abilities. You learn another when you reach levels 9 and 12

Drain Energy

You make a ranged spell attack against a target you can see within 30ft. On a hit the target takes 1D6 necrotic damage. Their speed is reduced by 10ft and they have disadvantage on strength checks and saves until the end of your next turn. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier.

Mana Dispersion

When you are hit by a targeted spell, you can use your reaction to take half damage rounded Up. Other creatures within 5ft must succeed on a dexterity saving throw or take the same amount of damage. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier.

Planar lens

You use your bonus action to peer through a crystal lens. Until the end of your next turn you gain Truesight at a range of 20ft. Spell attacks you make against targets in range have advantage for the duration. This feature can be used 3 times per long rest.

Spell Reinforcement

As a bonus action you gather up ambient magic to reinforce your spells. Until the end of your next turn, creatures have disadvantage on spell saves against spells you control. This feature can be used 2 times per long rest.

Tap Leyline

Once per day you may cast one spell without using any material components. When you do, the casting time of that spell is increased by 10 minutes.

Tool Proficiency

3rd-level  Arcanist feature

You gain proficiency with jeweler's tools. If you already have this tool proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

3rd-level arcanist feature

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Arcanist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

 You can cast  Detect Magic at will without using a spell slot.

Refractive Manipulations

5th-level  Arcanist feature

You have learned to alter the effects of spells being cast around you.

When a spell you control causes cold, poison, acid, fire, or lightning damage you may have that spell deal another of those damage types instead.

Whenever a creature within 10 feet of you casts a spell or is damaged by a spell that deals one of the previous damage types, you may use a reaction to cause that spell to deal another of those damage types instead.

Whenever you change the type of damage a spell would deal you may also roll a D6. Either add or subtract the number rolled from the damage dealt.

Improved Manipulations

When you reach level 15, you gain the ability to alter the damage types of  spells or magical effects that cause psychic, necrotic, radiant, force, or thunder using your Refractive Manipulations ability.

Geometric Adjustments

9th-level  Arcanist feature

You gain advantage on intelligence saving throws.

Whenever you cast a spell that has an area effect of a cone, cube, cylinder, or sphere,  you may have that spell take on another of those shapes instead. When you do you may also increase or decrease the area of the spell by 10ft. 

The Shape may be oriented in any direction you choose.

Chanel Mana

15th-level  Arcanist feature

As an action on your turn, you may cast a spell of 1st level or higher using the spell slot of any friendly and willing creature within 30ft.

  • You may cast any spell that either of you could normally cast as an action or bonus action.
  • Additionally, you may use one of your spell slots. If you do the spell is cast at the level of both spell slots +1
  • The duration for spells cast this way are doubled if they have a duration.
