Maybe cursed from the gods above, possessed from a demon below, or maybe you traverse the world as a lost spirit from the Ethereal Plane. Whatever the case may be, a bestowment of Ethereal Sight has allowed you to see the world in a different light. You have the ability to open a window into the Ethereal Plane by just traversing far enough from the Material Plane that you can see into the Ethereal Plane, but not so far that your body is unattached from the Material Plane. You travel through the Border Ethereal.
As an action, when you travel to the Border Ethereal, your body becomes a translucent green and you lose contact with the material plane. Any attacks, words, or anything to impact your sight from the material plane has no effect on you. Whilst in the Border Material, you see the world as if you were in the Ethereal Plane. You can not interact with objects or creatures beyond speech and vision. Anything you say or do in the Border Ethereal can be heard or seen by onlookers on the Material Plane. Your movement is considered difficult terrain whilst in the Border Ethereal and you have Limited Incorporeal Movement. You can remain in this state for 1 minute and can extend your stay by gaining 1 level of exhaustion per minute. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Limited Incorporeal Movement. You can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. This movement can penetrate most barriers but is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt. You take 5 (1d10) force damage if you end your turn inside an object.
