When the party stops to discuss what to do next, to strategize, to meander, etc. set a timer for X minutes (as predetermined with your DM). If no action has been taken or decision has been reached when the timer runs out, roll a d4,
- You manage to stay put a little longer (set the timer again, but decrease the time by half).
- You decide to take direct action without alerting your party (approach and initiate combat/conversation, start walking straight forwards, start swimming across the river, etc.)
- You alert the other party members that they better settle on what to do now, because you're not waiting any longer. (Within a minute, your character must have taken an action by either following one of the proposals made by the other party-members, or by acting on an original idea.)
- You decide to take direct action, but inform your party members before wandering off.
