A player possessed by a demon long-term must succeed on a daily CHA saving throw with a starting DC of 10. Saving throws should also be made in areas of a strong evil presence or in a situation that causes the character significant emotional duress. Upon a failure, the creature controls the character until the end of the next long rest. The demon may choose to relinquish control at any time, as decided by the DM. After a failed save, the DC for the save increases by 1 each time, at a maximum of 20.
If the player fails the save and the entity within has taken control*, the character’s alignment becomes Chaotic Evil: The demon’s short-term goals are to cause as much destruction and chaos as it can, but never to the extent of endangering its host or revealing itself to threats (e.g. the party, a priest, a celestial, anyone with the intent of banishing it).
*Physical changes such as black eyes, black veins, voice change, mannerisms, are all up to the player, but be mindful of how obvious this is. Although chaotically evil, this demon is not foolish or reckless. These physical changes can worsen or change as well, however you believe best fits this narrative.
Second Wind
If a Character who is possessed is reduced to zero hit points, they regain hit points equal to 3d6. If the character was under the entity's control when this happened, then the player's character resumes control of the body. If the entity is suppressed at the time of reaching zero hit points, then the entity will take control of the unconscious character until the end of the next long rest. This can only occur once per long rest.
Release Control
Once per long rest the controlling entity (either Demon or Character) as a bonus action can release the control of the body to the suppressed entity at that time. Whichever entity is dominant takes control until the end of the next long rest, at which point control will be determined by a CHA saving throw from the host.
