This is a non-feat feat that addresses some common quibbles with the default monk class. If your DM approves, you may add this feat at character creation to help keep your monk slightly more in line with the 5e power curve. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain additional ki points equal to your Wisdom modifier. These will appear in a separate pool in your character sheet, but will reset as normal.
- Your hit point maximum increases by an additional 2 points per level. This is to compensate for the inability to increase hit dice size to a d10. Does not function with multiclassing.
- You gain proficiency in shields, and your Unarmored Movement and Martial Arts features now work with a shield equipped.
- You may use your Dexterity score instead of Strength to determine jump height and distance, and may use Dexterity (Acrobatics) to initiate a grapple.
- Your Unarmored Defense feature now adds your Constitution modifier to your AC.
- When you use Patient Defense or Step of the Wind, you may make an unarmed strike as part of that bonus action.
- At 10th level, you gain an additional ability score increase. Leave the options in this feat unselected until you are eligible.
- At 11th level, you can make one additional attack when you take the Attack action or use Flurry of Blows. This is insufficiently implemented in D&DB. Please keep track of this on your own.
You also gain the following feature intended to work in tandem with Step of the Wind and Patient Defense:
Flow State. You can take the Dash, Disengage, or Dodge actions as a bonus action without expending a ki point a number of times equal to 1 + your proficiency bonus per short rest. When you do so, you may also make an unarmed strike as part of this bonus action.
