NB: this is a feature, not a feat: all spellcasting classes automatically have access to it, but I couldn't find a more appropriate part of dndbeyond to post it on.

In a limited way, you are able to draw on your source of life energy, rather than your normal source of magic, to cast spells. Taking the normal casting time, you can cast a spell without expending a spell slot, instead gaining levels of exhaustion equal to the spell level. You may only cast spells of levels your character has access to, and as a result of game mechanics, if you cast any spell of 6th-level or higher, you die from exhaustion. These effects are removed through long rests in the normal way.

For example, a wizard casts the 5th-level teleportation circle spell. After the 1 minute casting time, and immediately after opening the teleportation circle, the wizard gains 5 levels of exhaustion.
