The character has undergone extreme training of the body to increase survivability. This training, unfortunately, has made some power wane.
The character gets a minus 1 to all ability checks and their proficiency bonus is reduced by 1. The character also gets their hit dice improve by one size and gets on extra hit dice. Hit points are also increased. This is done by scaling from what the character has now to the new version. This scaling has the first level as well as continuing levels increased in one d- level. (eg. for a barbarian at third level with 12 con and current hp being 28, the first level is backdated so it would be would be 20+con rather than 12, increasing one d level, and the other two levels pre effect would be 15 causing them to scale to the new die and [15/2=7.5, 7.5 is 62.5% of 12, .625*20=12.5, therefore totaling the new hp to twice this, being 25, as there were two levels] then all new levels are rolled with the larger die size. A second example with a level 5 wizard with a 9 con score and current hp of 19, the first level gets backdated so instead of 6-1 it becomes 8-1. The other levels increase as a function [14/4=3.5 which is 58.3% of 6 becoming 4.664*4, 18.656, in this case round up to 19] All continuing levels are under the new die number, in this case, a d8.)
(The formula used is current hp-first level hp= total lvl up hp, total lvl up hp/levels past level 1= avg hp per level, avg hp per level/maximum rolled number on current die= % of maximum, %of maximum*new die number(d-level)=new avg hp per level, new avg hp per level*levels accumulated=new hp total)
