Commitment Of The Chain Image

Something has been following you, and it has chosen to stay with you.

It takes the form of a small or tiny familiar. You can communicate telepathically with your familiar as well as see through the familiar's eyes and hear what it hears as long as you are on the same plane of existence. While the familiar is on your shoulders, you gain 30 feet of range to your darkvision and a bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) score and to Wisdom (Perception) checks equal to your Charisma modifier. While on your shoulders, the familiar can’t be targeted by any attack or other harmful effect; only you can cast spells on it; and it can’t take damage. If it is slain by a creature, you gain advantage on all attack rolls against the killer for the next 24 hours. The familiar doesn’t require sleep. While it is within 100 feet of you, it can awaken you from sleep as a bonus action. The familiar vanishes when it dies, or if you die. At the end of a short or long rest, you can call the familiar back to you—no matter where it is or whether it died—and it reappears within 5 feet of you.

  • The familiar’s weapon attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks.
  • If the familiar forces a creature to make a saving throw, it uses your spell save DC.
  • When the familiar takes damage, you can use your reaction to grant it resistance against that damage.
  • As a bonus action, you can command the familiar to take the Attack action.
  • The familiar acts on your initiative, but may not always obey your commands.
