If you don't currently have an animal companion you gain one that meets the requirements listed below. Your animal companion (either new or one you already had) has been exposed to some Feywild’s magic which has changed them and your bond, granting you and them the following benefits:

  • Increase your and your animal companions Intelligence score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • Your animal companion can understand any language you do.
  • You and your animal companion can speak telepathically to each other as long as you can see each other within 60 feet. Your animal companion can send a telepathic message to another creature with a limit of 25 words and can bring back a message to you. The telepathic utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands only if it knows that language.
  • You have a great bond with your animal companion and you both have an innate understanding of where each other are located and how to get back to one another.

Your new animal companion can be any Beast, Fey, or Dragon CR 1/4 or lower and size Medium or smaller, If you already have one but they exceed the CR or Size limit then they can still gain the benefits of this feat.

Add your proficiency bonus to your animal companion's AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or four times your overall level, whichever is higher. Like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points.

Your animal companion obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on your initiative. On your turn, you can verbally command them where to move (no action required by you). You can use your action to verbally command it to take the Attack, or Help action. On any of your turns when your animal companion doesn’t attack, you can use a bonus action to command them to take the Dash or Disengage action on its turn. If you don't issue a command, they take the Dodge action. Once you have the Extra Attack feature, you can make one weapon attack yourself when you command them to take the Attack or Help action. In addition, your animal companion's attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

If you are incapacitated or absent, your animal companion acts on its own, focusing on protecting you, itself, and those the animal companion consider a friend or worth protecting. The beast never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.

If your animal companion reaches 0 hit points it makes death saving throws and its soul hangs on for an hour instead of a minute in the case for revivify. If your animal companion dies, you can obtain a new companion by spending 8 hours magically bonding with a creature that isn’t hostile to you and that meets the requirements. Your past animal companions that have passed away return to you in your dreams and prevent nightmares, even from magical effects. If you die your animal companion can sacrifice itself by transferring its life to you, bringing you back to life at 0 hit points and stabilized. In that case you are unable to revivify that companion. Past animal companions that have died provide you a token for each that allows you to count a 1 rolled on a death saving throws to count as a single fail, these tokens cannot be regained.
