Prerequisite: 4th Level; must have the spellcasting class feature or pact magic.
You have learned to channel your magic through a deck of cards, granting you these benefits:
- Card Focus You can use a deck of cards as your spellcasting focus. When you use the deck as a focus to cast a spell that deals damage, you may add Xd4 damage of the spells damage type, where X is equal to half your Proficiency Modifier rounded down. This bonus can apply to any creature of your choice that you can see damaged by the spell, expending one use per creature affected. You can use this benefit a number of times equal to your Proficiency Modifier, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest. Card Focus cannot be used with Hidden Ace.
- Card Tricks You learn the prestidigitation cantrip and can use it to create illusions that duplicate the effects of stage magic. When you use prestidigitation in this way, you can conceal the verbal and somatic components of the spell as mundane conversation and card-handling.
- Hidden Ace When you finish a long rest, you can choose one spell you know and imbue it into a card; the chosen spell must have a casting time of 1 action, and its level must be less than or equal to your proficiency bonus. The deck may only be imbued with proficiency bonus levels worth of spells at a time. While a card is imbued with a spell, you can use your bonus action to flourish the card and cast the spell within. A card remains magical until either the spell is cast, the card is destroyed, or the deck is dispelled.

Posted Aug 9, 2022This is an attempt to make the UA feat more of an actual, usable feat with proper language and bounds. With Hidden Ace reeled in from the RAW presenting use for as many cards as are in a deck of playing cards, Card Focus was given more limited potential as well as removing the "playing card" limitation. It is not intended to be happily balanced either as feats that do not present more gameplay potential are genuinely boring and often viewed as non-options.
Any suggestions are welcome as this is being actively used in my group.
