These points, of which you can accrue up to 5 at any one time, allow you to cash them in for one of the following effects. These may be played at any time, either on your turn, or even someone else's and do not take an action of any kind to use (unless the effect specifically states that a particular action type must be used). They are rewarded for basically being ******* AWESOME! and can be given for good roleplay, ingenious ideas, hilarious moments, basically anytime someone would say "OMG THAT'S ******* AWESOME! LOL" then one of these may be given. Each player can give out 1 per session and the DM can give out as many as he wishes and is the final arbiter on what qualifies as awesome but can be overruled by a majority of the group. That said, you can get a maximum of 2 points each per session. THIS REPLACES AND IS NOT IN ADDITION TO THE INSPIRATION SYSTEM! The points may be spent as below, the only activation requirement to use them (unless otherwise specified in the effect) is to state out loud the trigger phrase associated with the effect or a custom equivalent:
- Point Options:
- I'VE GOT THIS! - gain advantage on a single d20 roll of any kind
- MAXIMUM EFFORT! - reroll any 1's or 2' on your damage dice
- RIPOSTE! - use your Reaction to make a single melee or ranged attack against an enemy that has just missed you within 30'
- LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE - use before a long rest and if the party is attacked during that long rest, the party gets advantage on attacks, saves, and perception checks.
- Point Options:
- (Name of Dragon corresponding with energy to be resisted) MODE ENGAGED! - gain resistance to a single energy type for 1 minute
- NOT MY FRIEND YOU *****! - gain an additional 1d6 damage per attack against an enemy that dropped your ally to 0 HP for 1 minute
- LET CHAOS REIGN! - roll on the Wild Magic Table for a random effect
- EIDETIC MEMORY - use this when making an Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion check, you may treat the roll as a natural 20 if you are proficient in that skill. If you are not proficient, treat the roll as a roll of a 15
- Point Options
- TODAY IS NOT A GOOD DAY TO DIE! - auto-succeed on 1 Death Save
- IT'D LOOK BETTER LIKE THIS - you may add 1 feature to the environment with the DM's permission (Examples of possible inclusions: An unnoticed chandelier is overhead allowing you to swing across to the other balcony, or a cask of oil sits in the corner that can be spilled open or set ablaze, or there is a hidden window behind that tapestry over there, etc.)
- ALL OR NOTHING! - instead of rolling a d20 for an attack, skill, or saving throw roll, flip a coin (or roll 1d2) and on Tails (1) it is counted as a natural 1 and on Heads (2) it is counted as a natural 20.
- SURPRISE MOTHER****A! - use this before rolling initiative, you may select 1 enemy. That enemy has the surprised condition for the first round of combat.
- FAST LIKE NINJA! - after rolling initiative, you may automatically move to the top of the initiative order
- Point Options
- BULLSEYE! - you may turn a regular hit into a critical hit
- PARLEY! - instantly change a combat encounter into a social encounter
- I NEED A HERO! - help arrives within 1 round, the DM decides on the nature of the help. (NOTE: If you sing the full chorus to the song "Holding out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler" the player gets to decide the nature of the help!)
- BLAZING SPEED - you may take a second action, bonus action and movement this round. This second turn occurs at your initiative -10 (minimum 1)
- Point Options
- VICTORY FROM THE JAWS OF DEFEAT! - you may turn a roll of a natural 1 into a natural 20
- I'M A BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY! - up to 1 minute after death, you may spontaneously Reincarnate as the spell of the same name (DM may use alternate list to the one in the spell if they so choose) Other players may donate points to the dead party member if they do not have enough to use this ability. Extra donated points over the 5 allows for the dead party member to roll additional times on the table and pick the race they prefer.
