Prerequisite: You can only take a feature if you are the level the subclass would normally be to unlock it. You can only take features of a different subclass from a class you already are.
When you take this feat you can take the class feature of different subclass then your current subclass.
Basically, say a Battle Master fighter wants the improve critical from the Champion. Conjuration wizard wants the Shape Spell feature from the Evocation wizard.
Unless you devote levels to multi class you can't take the class feature of a different class. So Warlocks can't take Divine Smite from Paladin.
