This is a Feat for those who are spell collectors or love to roleplay the mystic arts with a little more spell pursuit. You are able to learn a new cantrip as often as the DM will allow, provided that:
- You have another caster of your spell list type teach you and write down the recipe for the cantrip spell and practice technique for you, with a downtime day. Without a mentor, perhaps you spend 5 downtime days to research this yourself. Another route might be treasure of a spell book by a DM.
- You practice the spell out-of-combat each session of the game play until you have played at least 2 sessions, doing this practice. These are just role-play moments. Your DM may also have you spend a couple of downtime days for this, if your game is tracking downtime days.
- After practicing the above, you replace one of your cantrips for the entire game session, using your new cantrip rolling an Arcana DC 12 roll each time for success or failure, until you have succeeded twice on its use.
- When all these conditions are met, you now can add a new cantrip to your spell list permanently.
