Division

  • Decay: Using the Surge of Division, the Surgebinder can touch an object and cause it to burn, turn to dust, or decay in other ways. The Surgebinder can exercise significant control, such as to burn a pattern into a piece of wood. It can also be used on sentient creatures at a lesser power. This splits the molecular bonds of the object the Surge is used on, but not the atoms themselves. It is likely to have the ability to ignite objects. Decay can be used to create types of sculptures, such as adding color when burning objects or grayscaling them.
  • On stone and earth this ability has a low DC, on objects such as precious gems, metal or organic material the DC is higher. Dm dictated.
  • any one object can only have a decay effect used once on it and the effects are permanent.
  • ROLL A D100 to determine rate of decay.
  • The size of the intended target determines the Stormlight cost. Refer to DM.

Shardplate and ShardBlade, as well as spren are immune to the effects of the surge.

Abrasion

The Surge of Abrasion can be manipulated to alter the frictional force between two surfaces.

  • Slicking: This ability allows the Surgebinder to make their body frictionless. The Surgebinder can choose which parts of the body are affected and which parts are not; for example, the bottom of the feet can be infused so that the Surgebinder glides over any surface without losing momentum until the ability is suspended. Wind friction can also be affected. However, slicking doesn't reduce the force of direct collisions. People experienced in its use often move as though they were ice-skating on the ground. Slicking can also be used to escape any grasp, or slip through tight openings. It can also be applied to objects, making it so that only the Surgebinder can grip the object without it slipping. Dead Shardplate would interfere with this.
  • 1 Sphere of Stormlight equates to +10 move speed. This remains for 1 hour.
  • At a cost of 10 Storm orbs the effect of this surge can be pushed into a surface stretching 30 feet in all directions as an area effect disallowing all creatures not allied from holding items.  other effects are possible refer to your DM.
  • Once released this surge loses all power.
