Prerequisite: Proficiency with whips
You’ve spent much time honing your skill with mercurial weapons, such as whips. You gain the following benefits:
-
Increase your Strength or Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20
-
Whips you wield have the light property.
-
Once per turn when you damage a creature no more than one size larger than you with a whip you are wielding, you latch onto them. You cannot latch onto creatures that are formless. You can use a free action to release the tether on your turn or a tethered creature can make a Strength saving throw at the start of their turns (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your chosen score increase), breaking free of the tether on a success. While tethered, a creature cannot move more than 10 feet away from you and if you attempt move more than 10 feet away from the tethered creature, you must make a Strength (Athletics) contest. On a success, you pull the creature with you with each 1 foot of movement costing 1 additional foot and being unable to move the creature on a failure. Attacks made with whips being used as a tether automatically pull the tethered creature 5 feet towards you in place of the normal attack.
