You become proficient with whips and other similar rope-like weapons.
When you are wielding a flail, rope, chain, sash, or whip and another creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to attempt to catch them in your rope and initiate a grapple. You can maintain this grapple with reach if you are using a reach weapon.
You may use an action to attempt to initiate a grapple with an enemy further than 5ft away from you. If you are using a whip or other rope-like reach weapon you may initiate the grapple at your reach distance. If you are holding a rope, chain, or other implement you may initiate the grapple at a maximum distance equal to half the length of your rope. You may use your Dexterity in place of your Strength for this check.
While you are grappling a target with a weapon you may not use that weapon to make attacks.
