Envoy Of Despair Image

Aura of Despair. Even at rest, dark waves of negative feelings flow from you. You gain an aura to a range of 150ft. In that range, all creatures besides those of your choice must make wisdom saves at the end of their turn, which are affected by hound of ill omen. After three failed saves, they fall incapacitated, as their mind is taken captive. In addition, the effects of the charmed and frightened condition on you are suppressed as you overpower them. Effects that rely on these conditions such as the ‘geas’ spell fail. You are aware of all creatures making these saving throws, along with their exact locations. If you were to die, your Aura of Despair lingers on a point centered around where you died. This lasts indefinitely or until you're brought back to life. These effects end on any creature that leaves this aura.

Gaze of Despair. As an action, you can more specifically focus your aura onto one creature. They must make a wisdom save equal to your spell save dc or be utterly crippled as a wave of despair envelopes them. This is affected by hound of ill omen. If they would fail the save they would fall prone and become stunned regardless of any immunities. They may only repeat this save if subjected to an effect that would remove the charmed and/or frightened condition, such as a monk’s ‘stillness of mind’.

Shadow travel. Darkness is a singular entity, one that can be folded and opened as a door to those skilled enough. Your shadow step becomes a free action, and it’s range increases to line of sight, It does not have to be within line of sight as long as the point is within your Aura of Despair. Anti-teleport magic cannot stop this. You can cast plane shift as a bonus action, either going to or from the shadowfell a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier a day. Recharges on a long rest.

Body of shadow. Your body has become so naturally incorporeal, you can disperse your physical essence into the shadows that you were born into. You are constantly under the effects of your "Umbral Form" ability, though your appearance may vary. You are always considered in dim light, unless marked affected by a spell or an ability that would state otherwise. When you take damage whilst you are in dim light or darkness, you can you your reaction to melt away into the shadows and your physical form temporarily disappearing until the end of the attackers turn. As apart of the same reaction you may use your shadow step feature.

Mind of Corruption. When you die or this ability ends, you can take over another creatures mind if they're under the effects of your Gaze of Despair. Whilst you are possessing a creature in this way, your features are replaced with those of the creature you are possessing, and you gain full control over their body. Once the effects of Gaze of Despair are removed the creature may make a charisma saving throw equal to your spell save dc at the start of each of their turn. On a success, your consciousness is shunted out of the creature and this ability ends.
