I don't think you can justify giving monks the equivalent of a Bard's Magical Secrets as a feat, let alone two spells worth. Add to that, the Shadow monk's spells are discounted explicitly because they're from a curated list. Spamming cordon of arrows or aid and then recovering the spent ki on a short rest is too easy to abuse. Even without that trick, Mirror Image for 2 ki is a pretty dramatic option for monks.

While I dislike class-specific feats, I think you can make this work as long as you restrict it to 1st level spells. Even if you've decided to boost them up to 2nd level slots, it ensures the basic effect isn't anything you couldn't already do with Magic Initiate. There's still some really valuable options that I think toe the line though: hex, mage armor, ensnaring strike, shield and shield of faith.

Thanks for your input. I actually don't advocate for this feat. Instead I created balanced and themed feats, I don't know if you have seen them. This feat here is totally "subject to GM approval", otherwise it might be too much. Thanks for your pointers of course.

EDIT: I basically just made this one available, since someone in the Homebrew section pointed out that they think I should generalize it. But I'm in total agreement with you on this; as a DM I totally make sure the choices are thematic and not breaking; otherwise the Ki cost has to be adjusted or a different limitation needs to be introduced.
