Prerequisite: Requires proficiency with Longsword

Any skilled adventurer or elite knight can swing a longsword the proper way, but mastering the true art of Old - that is what you dedicated yourself to. While you are wielding a longsword with both hands, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a +1 bonus to your AC.
  • When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can choose to deal Slashing, Piercing, or Bludgeoning damage to it, as you adapt your technique to attack with the edge, the point, or the pommel of the longsword.
  • At the end of your turn, you can commit to stand in one of the following Guards until the start of your next turn:
    • Vom Tag. You raise your blade to prepare a violent descending strike. As a Reaction, when a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can make a melee attack against that creature, adding +5 to that attack's damage if it hits.
    • Ochs. You point your blade towards the enemy, prepared to feint and strike. Creatures provoke Opportunity Attacks from you even if they take the Disengage action before leaving your reach.
    • Hangen. You cross your blade in front of your body. As a Reaction, when an attacker that you can see hits you with a melee attack, you can parry and halve that attack's damage against you.
    • Schlüssel. You keep your blade parallel to the ground and close to you, prepared to lunge. As a Reaction, when a creature that you can see moves into 10 ft. of you, you can make an attack against it.
