You've conditioned yourself to use the high poundage war bows and have trained to use the high rate of fire a bow offers to your advantage. With an appropriate long of Short Bow equipped you gain the following benefits:

• On your turn, when you score a critical hit with a bow, or reduce a creature to 0 hit points with one, you can make one ranged bow attack as a bonus action.
• You may add your 1/2 strength bonus to hit and full strength bonus to damage.
• You may use your reaction to fire a single shot at an attacker as they move into melee range.
