while you use a heavy weapon and shield your hit modifier is subtracted by 1

Well look no further than to become a heavy weapons specialist. As a heavy weapons specialist you can use a heavy weapon with one hand and a shield in the other.(YOU CAN NOT USE ANOTHER WEAPON IN YOUR SECOND HAND ONLY A SHEILD) as you level up you get used to it.

When reached level 16 while you use a heavy weapon and shield your hit modifier is not subtracted at all.
