An airship pilot can be anyone that has learned all the skills and proficiencies it takes to fly any variation of an airship. This can be taught by another airship pilot of level 10 or higher, or they could attend a school (Waterdeep, Luskin, and Ordulin are some of the cities with schools) to learn the skills. The airship pilot gains proficiency in Athletics, Perception, Navigation, piloting, and woodworking. The air pilot also gains expertise in knot tying. At level 6 piloting, navigation, and woodworking become expertise.
Also at level 6, the airship pilot gains the ability to inspire his/her crew onboard the airship granting a d4 to anyone in the crew. At level 8 this becomes a d6, level 10 a d8 on and off the airship, and at level 16 the pilot can inspire anyone with a d8. The inspiration is gained by any crewmember that can hear and understand the pilot, and it lasts for 10 minutes for one-time use. At level 16 the crew inspiration is the same but the pilot can choose one extra person that can hear them gain the d8 inspiration dice for a 10-minute duration for one-time use. If the pilot grants inspiration and a person is already inspired they do not stack the inspiration dice, each person can only have one inspiration die at a time.
