Vampiric Smite

You may infuse your weapon with life sapping energy.

When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one use of Vampiric Bite to deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage to the target in addition to the weapon's damage. When you use this feature and hit a creature that isn’t a Construct or an Undead, you can empower yourself in one of the following ways of your choice:

• You regain hit points equal to the extra necrotic damage dealt.
• You gain a bonus to the next ability check or attack roll you make; the bonus equals the extra necrotic damage dealt.
