Your mind, after years of torment, has finally broken. You begin to detach from reality until you are slowly consumed by all that troubles you.
When triggered* you must either roll on the Madness table and or use the following with 1d8. The severity of each of these symptoms can be discussed at your table and vary. Insanity doesn't have to be consistent, after all.
1. The character experiences vivid hallucinations and has disadvantage on Ability Checks.
2. Mania's Kiss: The intensity of your stare causes anyone you look at to gain the frightened condition if they don't save on a Charisma saving through equal to 8+ charisma modifier +proficiency bonus
3. You begin to mumble in a hodgepodge of all the languages you learn. If you only know one, then you mumble then yell randomly in that language.
4. Another voice is heard in your mind. It will not go away until you interact with it. Friend or foe who's to know?
5. Any two opposite emotions are switched.
Ex: Happiness and Sadness are switched. When you are sad you will break out in a bout of laughter. When you are happy you will weep uncontrollably.
6. DM's choice :)
7. You have a panic attack and gain the paralyzed condition for 1d10 minutes.
8. Your past has caught up with you. Something or someone related to your trauma begins to manifest just outside of your peripheral. Everytime you attempt look at it, it moves.
*Frequency of checks depend on the severity of your character's madness.
