Due to your weariness in battle when being attacked at close range by a physical attack that you can see you can see, you can roll 1d4 against the incoming attack and subtract the d4 value from the to hit of the enemy. If this roll makes an incoming attack fail that otherwise would have hit, then you have managed to brace yourself with your shield. In order to qualify for this feat you must bear a shield. This feat is treated as a reaction.
