Feat has no requirements and can be taken for free regardless of level.
As a bonus action any time you may melee a creature in reach and deal 1d4 temporary blunt damage and 1d4 temporary healing. If the creature is friendly and at 0 health, then you deal 1d8 blunt damage and 1d4 healing, meaning if you deal more damage than healing you can cause the auto fail of death saves. This can be buffed and resisted by any feature that buffs healing or resists blunt damage. Similarly any effect that lets you change damage type on your fists whether gloves or feature, still can which changes the resistance needed
