Whenever you make an ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can forgo rolling the check to instead have an 8 plus any additional modifiers, including your proficiency bonus. You must make this decision before you roll the check.

You can do this twice, regaining all uses of this feature on a short or long rest.
