Downcaster

Your careful practice of your spells has given you greater control over the arcane energies, granting you the following benefits:

• You can now cast spells you know with a lower level spell slot. You may only use this ability on spells that heal or deal damage as a number of dice.
• For spells of the 6th level and below, 2dx are subtracted from the number of dice rolled for damage for each spell slot level you are downcasting (with x being the die type for that spell's damage).
• For spells of the 7th level and above, 1dx is subtracted from the number of dice rolled for damage for each spell slot level you are downcasting.
• If a flat number is included in the spells healing or damage, the downcasting value is calculated by multiplying the written number by the slot you are using to downcast, then dividing by the original spell level.
• Additional spell effects beyond healing or damage are at the DM's discretion and may not be allowed for downcasting.
