Bloodline Surge Prerequisite: Sorcerer level 5 or higher

You have tapped into the dormant power of your bloodline, allowing you to surge with increased magical potency when needed. You gain the following benefits:

  • Bloodline Surge: Once per long rest, you can activate Bloodline Surge. When you do so, you choose a spell you can cast or a sorcerer feature you possess that requires an expended spell slot. The chosen spell or feature is empowered by the surge of your bloodline magic.

  • Hit Point Expenditure: When activating Bloodline Surge, you can choose to expend a number of hit points up to your sorcerer level multiplied by your proficiency bonus. The hit points expended determine the extent of the augmentation.

  • Enhancement Options:
    • Empowered Potency: Increase the damage or healing of the chosen spell or feature by a flat bonus equal to the number of hit points expended.
    • Extended Range: Double the range of the chosen spell or feature.
    • Prolonged Duration: Extend the duration of the chosen spell or feature by a number of rounds equal to the number of hit points expended.
    • Heightened Accuracy: Gain advantage on attack rolls made with the chosen spell or feature.
    • Improved Area of Effect: Increase the area of effect of the chosen spell or feature by 50%.
    • Enhanced Saving Throws: Imbue the chosen spell or feature with a heightened difficulty for targets to resist, imposing disadvantage on their saving throws.
    • Selective Targeting: Modify the chosen spell or feature to exclude specific creatures or areas within its effect.
    • Spell Penetration: Increase your spell attack bonus by an amount equal to the number of hit points expended.
  • Duration: The increased potency granted by Bloodline Surge lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). Once the duration ends, the spell or feature reverts to its original power.
  • Vitality Drain: After using Bloodline Surge, you suffer a temporary drain on your vitality. You take necrotic damage equal to the number of hit points expended. This damage cannot be reduced or negated in any way.
