You combine your love for brawling and grappling, enhancing your ability to control and dominate opponents in close-quarters combat.
Tavern Brawler Proficiency:
You gain the benefits of the Tavern Brawler feat, even if you don't have it. This includes the following:
- You are proficient with improvised weapons and unarmed strikes.
- Your Unarmed Strikes deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage, plus your Strength modifier.
- When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike or an Improvised Weapon attack on your turn, you can use a Bonus Action to attempt to grapple the target. To do so, you must have two free hands.
- You gain proficiency in the Athletics skill. If you already have proficiency, you instead gain expertise.
Grappler's Advantage:
Your mastery of grappling techniques improves further. When you successfully grapple a creature, you gain the following benefits:
- The grappled creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.
- You have advantage on Attack Rolls against a creature you are grappling.
- While grappling, you can use your Bonus Action to attempt to pin the target. Make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If you succeed, you and the creature are both restrained until the grapple ends.
