Unlucky Image

You are perpetually plagued by ill fortune, and fate seems to conspire against you. However, you have learned to harness this misfortune to your advantage, becoming more resilient and unpredictable in the face of adversity.

Whenever you roll below 5 on a D20, get hit by a critical hit or roll with disadvantage on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you gain one Unlucky charge. You can accumulate Unlucky charges up to a maximum equal to your proficiency bonus. All Uncluky charges are lost after a Long Rest. While you have Unlcuky Charges, you may use your reaction to expend one for the following effects.

  • Careless Footing: When you become the target of an attack, you can choose to expend one Unlucky Charge to unpurposely avoid the attack. The sudden clumsiness catches your opponent off-guard, adding +5 to your AC for that incoming attack.
  • I Meant To Do That: When you make a d20 roll, you can choose to expend one Unlucky Charge to tap into the chaotic nature of your fate. Before you make the roll you can choose to roll with advantage, allowing you to embrace both your calculated skills and fortunate accidents.
  • Fortunate Distraction: You can spend one Unlucky point to create a momentary distraction in combat. Choose one enemy within 30 feet of you.  The chosen enemy must make a Wisdom saving throw against 8 + your proficiency bonus + 1D8. On a failed save, the distracted enemy has disadvantage on its next attack roll against a target other than you. The effect lasts until the start of your next turn.
