Alexithymia (Disability) Image

Alexithymia is a disorder where a character has difficulty identifying feelings and distinguishing feelings from body sensations. Alexithymia means having no words for emotions, and it is derived from the IRL Greek word alexisthymos, which, when broken down, translates to lack of word emotions (a=lack, lexis=word, thymos=emotions). These characters would also have difficulty describing their feelings to another person. Sometimes, a person with Alexithymia has a limited or non-existent imagination and dreams; therefore, a character with this disability cannot be a subclass that deals with dreaming (Circle of Dreams Druid) or creativity (Creation or Lore Bard). Within character creation, you can decide if your character is unaware of the subconscious mind and has a secure and straightforward way of thinking.

You lack a large imagination, meaning you cannot wholly understand art and decipher dreams. You have a disadvantage on art and dreams and an advantage to Charisma (Deception) checks. You cannot be a Circle of Dreams Druid, Creation, or Lore Bard. You do know how to lie through your teeth, though.

When you take this disability, you may take an additional feat or give a +1 to two ability scores or a +2 to one ability score.
