Chronic Pain Image

You have a condition which impairs your physical mobility and causes you to be in pain at all times. At the beginning of each day, roll 1d20 to determine its severity and its effects.

Plateau (1-5). You pain is at a manageable level and you experience no significant impairment to your functioning.

Discomfort (6-10). You experience intermittent waves of mild to moderate pain, causing these effects:

  • You are limited to one Dash action per minute.

Minor Flare-Up (11-14). You are in moderate pain. In addition to the Discomfort effects:

  • Your speed is halved unless you are using a cane, crutch, staff, wheelchair, or other form of mobility aid.
  • You have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.
  • You have disadvantage on attack roles when using melee weapons.

Major Flare-Up (15-17). You are in moderate to severe pain. In addition to the Minor Flare-Up effects:

  • Difficult terrain becomes impossible to physically traverse but may be crossed if you are carried, levitated, or otherwise moved by an external or magical force.
  • You have disadvantage on all skill checks and saving throws.

Debilitating (18-20). You are in extreme pain. In addition to the Major Flare-Up effects:

  • Your speed is reduced to 0 when unaided. Your speed is halved while using a cane, crutch, staff, wheelchair, or other form of mobility aid.
  • Short rests no longer grant any positive buffs or have any regenerative properties.
  • Whenever you take damage, you add an additional 1d6 to your roll.
