When you make a melee weapon attack and successfully reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you have the option to carry over any excess damage from that attack to another creature nearby. You can target another creature within your reach, and if your original attack roll would also hit it, you can apply any remaining damage to that creature. If the chosen creature was previously undamaged and is likewise reduced to 0 hit points, you can repeat this process, carrying over the remaining damage. Continue doing so until there are no valid targets remaining, or until the carried-over damage fails to reduce an undamaged creature to 0 hit points. Secondary effects of the weapon attack do not transfer to any creature outside of the original target.
