Dig Deeper

When your attempts to recall knowledge, swiftly recover, grapple an enemy, or other such events fall just short of success, you can dig deeper into the well of your will, pushing past what you can normally muster for but a moment, and possibly come out just barely on top.

• Increase one ability score of your choice by 1, to a maximum of 20.
• You gain a number of d6s equal to half your proficiency bonus, rounded down. When you make a skill check and fail, and the skill is not one for which you have proficiency, you may use your reaction and expend one of these d6s to add to the result, possibly turning failure into success.

These d6s can be used alongside other features which add bonuses to your skill checks, as long as the feature is not your own proficiency bonus.

You may use this feature once on any particular skill check, regaining all expended uses at the end of a long rest.
