You have a paranormal wellspring of the Weave hidden deep within your soul, and it can only be tapped into when you become grievously wounded.
When you become bloodied, you can use your reaction to regain expended spell slots. The maximum level of a spell slot regained is equal to your proficiency bonus, or you can choose any number of spell slots that total an amount equal to your proficiency bonus. Once you use this reaction, you can not do so again until you finish a short rest.
For example, if a 5th-level wizard becomes bloodied, they can use their reaction to regain one 3rd-level spell slot, since their proficiency bonus is +3. Or they could choose to regain one 2nd-level slot and one 1st-level slot, or they could choose to regain three 1st-level spell slots.
