You have become a master at turning the tables on your foes in the heat of battle. Your quick reflexes and combat prowess allow you to seamlessly retaliate against those who try to strike you, whether their attacks find their mark or not.
When a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, your instinct for retaliation kicks in. Using your reflexes, you can make an immediate melee weapon attack against that creature as a reaction. Even when your enemies fail to land a blow, you seize the opportunity to strike back. If a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack.
You can use these counterstrikes a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier plus 1 (minimum of 1).
The damage is equal to your class-exclusive superiority die. (At level 3 the die is d4. At level 5 it is d6. At level 9 it is d8. At level 13 it is d10. At level 17 it is d12)
You regain all expended uses after a long rest.
