A character who becomes a lycanthrope retains his or her statistics except as specified by lycanthrope type. The character gains the lycanthrope’s speeds in nonhumanoid form, damage immunities, traits, and actions that don’t involve equipment. The character is proficient with the lycanthrope’s natural attacks, such as its bite or claws, which deal damage as shown in the lycanthrope’s statistics. The character can’t speak while in animal form.
A non-lycanthrope humanoid hit by an attack that carries the curse of lycanthropy must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + the lycanthrope’s proficiency bonus + the lycanthrope’s Constitution modifier) or be cursed. If the character embraces the curse, his or her alignment becomes the one defined for the lycanthrope. The DM is free to decide that a change in alignment places the character under DM control until the curse of lycanthropy is removed.
The following information applies to this specific lycanthrope. You gain the following benefits:
- Natural Dexterity: The character gains a Dexterity of 15 if his or her score isn’t already higher. Attack and damage rolls for the bite are based on whichever is higher of the character's Strength and Dexterity. In your beast form (hybrid or giant rat), you have a Natural Armor of 11 + Dex Mod.
- Damage Vulnerability: You get the vulnerability to damage dealt by silvered weapons.
- Speed: In your beast form, you have a walking speed of 40ft. Additionally, you gain a climbing speed of 20ft.
- Natural Stealth: In your beast form, you have an advantage on Stealth checks while not in direct sunlight.
- Keen Smell: The wererat has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
- Darkvision: In your Giant Rat form, you gain Darkvision up to 60ft.
- Small Stature: In your Giant Rat form, you can comfortably squeeze into a space as small as 1ft x 1ft.
- Pack-a-Snack: Due to your small size, you require less raw, fresh meat to sustain your Bloodlust. You are able to feed off of tiny creatures to sustain yourself. Feeding in this way does not grant you Temporary Hit Points.
You gain the following abilities:
- Shapechanger. The wererat can use its action to polymorph into a rat-humanoid hybrid or into a giant rat, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. You can use this feature twice per long rest. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
- Multiattack (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). The wererat makes two attacks, only one of which can be a bite.
- Bite (Rat or Hybrid Form Only). 1d6+ Dex/Str piercing damage.
Dominate the beast:
- Start the counter at 10. Every day at midnight roll 1d20 with the same DC as the counter. If the roll is successful increase the counter by 2, otherwise decrease it by 2.
- Equilibrium (7-13): You can transform between a giant rat and your true form.
- Mastery (> 13): You can additionally transform into a rat-humanoid hybrid and gain benefits from both forms.
- Go Astray (< 7): You temporarily loose control over your body. You succumb to your primal urges as a rat.
- Loose control (< 3): You will live the rest of your life as a rat.
