Breath Weapon Mastery

You stumble across an old book written by the legendary dragon, Gojira. Gojira was infamous for his control over his breath weapon and the destruction he wrought with it. In the book, Gojira details the techniques used to perfect his breath weapon. By studying his techniques, you too gain a mastery over your breath weapon and develop a new, more powerful technique.

• Requirements:
  • Only available for the Dragonborn race
  • Requires character level 6
• In Combat:
  • Each technique requires two turns to charge before being fired. During that time, the character is unable to move or use actions/reactions.
  • Only one combatant can be targeted
  • Only available once per Long Rest
• Brass/Gold/Red Dragonborn: Atomic Breath
  • You compress the gout of flame spewing forth into a powerful, concentrated beam that is hot enough to cut through all but the strongest of materials, leaving a smoldering trail in its wake.
  • Target must make a DEX saving throw. The DC for this throw is the same as the standard breath weapon attack (8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).
    • On hit, target takes 5d8 slashing damage, which increases to 6d8 at level 12 and 7d8 at level 18.
• Blue/Bronze Dragonborn: Railgun
  • By controlling the current of electricity flowing through you, you are able to fire one of your own scales out of your mouth at an extremely high velocity. The scale is travelling at such a high rate of speed that it is able to penetrate all but the thickest of surfaces with ease. 
  • Target must make a DEX saving throw. The DC for this throw is the same as the standard breath weapon attack (8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).
    • On hit, target takes 5d8 piercing damage, which increases to 6d8 at level 12 and 7d8 at level 18.
• Black/Copper: Caustic Soda
  • You are able to flip the pH of the acid within you, turning it into an extremely powerful base. When it lands on the target, the base begins to violently react, releasing a massive amount of heat and causing necrosis in the skin.
  • Target must make a DEX saving throw. The DC for this throw is the same as the standard breath weapon attack (8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).
    • On hit, target takes 5d8 necrotic damage, which increases to 6d8 at level 12 and 7d8 at level 18.
• Silver/White: Absolute Zero
  • You are able to chill your breath down to absolute zero, the temperature at which all molecular activity ceases. Ice crystals begin to form on your skin, spreading across your body and freezing the ground under your feet. As you exhale, your breath looks like a cloud of fog as it envelops your target, freezing them solid at a molecular level.
  • Target must make a CON saving throw. The DC for this throw is the same as the standard breath weapon attack (8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).
    • On hit, target takes 2d8 cold damage and is rendered Paralyzed for three turns.
      • At level 12, this increases to 3d8 cold damage and four turns of Paralysis.
      • At level 18, this increases to 4d8 cold damage and five turns of Paralysis.
• Green: Nerve Agent
  • You are able to alter the chemical composition of the poison, turning it into a paralyzing nerve agent. Through inhalation or by contact with the skin or eyes, the nerve agent causes all of the target's muscles to continuously contract, rendering them paralyzed.
  • Target must make a CON saving throw. The DC for this throw is the same as the standard breath weapon attack (8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).
    • On hit, target takes 2d8 poison damage and is Paralyzed for three turns.
      • At level 12, this increases to 3d8 poison damage and four turns of Paralysis.
      • At level 18, this increases to 4d8 poison damage and five turns of Paralysis.
