You have a talent for befriending animals. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain proficiency in the Animal Handling skill. If you're already proficient in it, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any check you make with it.
- You gain an animal companion that accompanies you on your adventures and fights alongside you. You may spend one hour bonding with a creature of the beast type that isn't hostile to you, is no larger than Medium, and that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower (this can be done during a short rest). This creature becomes an ally to you, following you and obeying your commands as best it can. It acts on your initiative count. On your turn, you can verbally command the beast to move (no action required by you) and you may also, as a bonus action, verbally command it to take the Attack, Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, the beast takes the Dodge action. If you are incapacitated, the beast acts independently, protecting you and itself. If the beast dies, you can bond with a new companion.
