Blessing Of The Shadow King Image

You have been gifted with power from the shadow king and have chosen to embrace the powers you have been given, this ability gives you the following features.

Shadow Summon. As a bonus action, you can attempt to summon the shadow of a creature you slain in the past 24 hours. For this condition to be fulfilled you must have either done the last hit on the creature or done the majority of damage to the creature. You can use this feature on any creature other than constructs. When attempting to summon the shadow you must roll the shadow die in correspondence to its CR and roll the highest number on that die, if the first attempt fails you have 2 additional items to attempt it, once it's been attempted 3 times its shadow cannot be summoned by anyone. Once successfully summoned the shadow goes into shadow storage and cannot be summoned until the end of the next long rest. Additionally, you must already have space to summon the shadow, i.e. one empty slot in your shadow storage.

Shadow Die. The shadow die is used whenever you try to summon a shadow from a slain enemy.

  • Creatures with CR 1/4 of your level or less: 1d4
  • Creatures with CR more than 1/4 or equal to 1/2 your level: 1d8
  • Creatures with CR more than 1/2 or equal to your level: 1d12
  • Creatures with CR more than your level but less than 1 and a half times your level: 1d20
  • Creatures with CR more than 1 and a half times your level: 1d100

Shadow Storage. Once you summon a shadow it goes into shadow storage where you can keep a number of shadows equal to your proficiency bonus. Shadows can be stored in here for as long as you are alive. If you die and are revived the shadows will have disappeared and you must go and collect more shadows.

Shadow Dismissal. As a bonus action, you can dismiss a summon either to the void permanently losing it to make space in your shadow storage, or to dismiss them for the day. Once dismissed in the later way they cannot be resummoned until the end of the next long rest.

Unleash Shadows. As a bonus action, you can summon your shadows by speaking a word or phrase chosen by you. You can choose which shadows to summon every time you speak the word or phrase. The shadow will act according to its ego and personality as if it sees an ally it knows in life it will not attack, it will attack anyone it has a particular distaste for, however, it will always try to assist you while in combat such as killing enemies it is not allied with or shielding you from danger. For low-intelligence shadows, you cannot command them to do anything. For high-intelligence creatures (18 or higher) you can politely ask them to do things for you in combat as a free action.
