Referring to your character traits, you may spend an Inspiration Point and gain a 1d8 bonus to a roll of your choice if your DM agrees that the trait applies to the context of the situation. Examples of traits and their applications might be as follows:
- "Dramatic Flair." - A character with this trait might gain a bonus if the player describes them performing an action which is assisted by a dramatic quip, or perhaps has a fancy flair or flavour to it.
- "Back Off." - A character with this trait might gain a bonus if the character is being defensive about themselves or someone else, telling a hostile entity to back off, or surrender.
- "Need a Hand?" - A character with this trait might gain a bonus if the character is known for helping others, and attempts to perform a check which would involve them assisting someone or something.
You gain an Inspiration Point whenever you roll a base roll of a 15 or higher on any d20 roll. You can have up to two Inspiration Points at any given time.
You cannot add Inspiration Points to death saving throws or damage rolls.

Posted Apr 23, 2024Hi there! OP here, with an explanation.
This is intended as a system to replace Inspiration, since I feel it doesn't function like a reliable reward for good player RP.
Learning from Daggerheart's "Experiences", this instead incentivises player RP, by having them use their character traits for something other than flavour- making roleplaying as the character they created seem like something they are rewarded for. By asking if their character trait might apply for their inspiration bonus, players are pushed towards considering how their PC might react to a situation more realistically without accidental metagaming, and if they're allowed to use this feat's Inspiration Points, it allows them to describe something cool in the way that they want it to appear. Everyone is happy!
This is a WIP, so if you have any constructive suggestions for improvements, I'm happy to hear them, this is just what seems to work in my games. Enjoy!
