Prerequisite: Prerequisite: The ability to cast spells or have spellcasting features.

You have honed your understanding of magical energies to manipulate the spells cast by others, bending them to your will within a limited radius. You gain the following benefits:

  • Arcane Manipulation: When a creature within 30 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction and expend a spell slot to attempt to manipulate the spell. The creature must make a saving throw against a DC equal to your spellcasting ability score (Intelligence for wizards or charisma for warlocks). On a failed save, you can alter the spell's effects as follows:

    • Movement Spells: You can determine the destination of the teleportation or movement.
    • Healing Spells: You can attempt to suppress the healing effects.
    • Damaging Spells: You can redirect the spell to target another creature within range.
    • Summoning Spells: You can cause the summoned creatures to appear crippled, granting vulnerability to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage.
    • Enchantment Spells: You can lessen the effects, halving all positive effects bestowed upon the target.
  • Spell Slot Expenditure: When manipulating a spell of a level higher than one, you must expend a spell slot of a level one lower than the spell being manipulated (e.g., manipulating a 3rd-level spell requires expending a 2nd-level spell slot).

  • Backlash: Additionally, you can use the Arcane Manipulator's Backlash ability a number of times equal to your Arcana modifier. As a reaction, when a creature within 30 feet of you casts a spell, you can tear open the weave of magic at the caster's position, causing a wild magic surge from the sorcerer's table. This usage of the feat and the Backlash ability counts as one reaction.

Your understanding of the intricacies of magic grants you the power to twist the spells of others to your advantage, but beware the unpredictable nature of the arcane forces you wield.
