You gain an additional Soul point for the Sell Your Soul Feat. It functions in the same way and means that there is one extra point you can spend before you begin to have permanently failed death saves(if you've already spent more then one Soul point you reduce the number of permanently failed death saves you have by 1 until you use this point as well).
