Note: This feat may be slightly stronger than the original Ranger's Beast Master subclass. If there were to be any rangers in your party, I'd recommend having this feat replace the effects of Ranger's companion. Alternatively, if you have both a ranger an another player with this feat, I'd recommend the Regalia's Beat Master homebrew subclass.
When you take this feat, you gain the ability to tame and train a beast companion that is no larger than Medium and has a challenger rating of 1/4 or lower, which will follow your commands to the best of its ability. You must find a beast to tame that isn't hostile towards you, and spend 24 hours, in 8 hour intervals, bonding with it and giving it basic training. Typically, you should not be able to use this feat to gain an additional animal companion, if you were to have one already.
Your beast gains a bonus to its AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in, equal to half your proficiency bonus, rounded down. Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or four times your level, whichever is higher. Like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points.
The beast rolls its own initiative, and during its turn, it follows your verbal (or somatic, if the beast has direct vision of you) commands to the best of its ability. If the beast has the Multiattack action, this feature is no longer available to them. If you don't issue a command, the beast takes the Dodge action.
When you reach level 8, you may tame beasts with a challenger rating of 1/2 or lower. At level 15, you may tame beasts with a challenger rating of 1 or lower.
If you are incapacitated or absent, the beast acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. The beast never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.
If the beast dies, you may obtain a new companion by following the taming rules above.
