Haunted By Failure (LIVE - Xerotyc) Image

You carry the weight of a significant failure from your past, which has driven you to become stronger and more vigilant. This burden has both sharpened your senses and instilled a deep sense of caution.

Benefits:

  1. Heightened Vigilance: You gain proficiency in the Perception skill. If you already have proficiency, you gain expertise, allowing you to add double your proficiency bonus to Perception checks.

  2. Driven by Redemption: When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

  3. Lingering Shadows: You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed, as your past has hardened your resolve and made you more resistant to manipulative forces.

  4. Burden of Memory: Once per long rest, you can focus on the memory of your past failure to push through a difficult situation. As a bonus action, you can grant yourself advantage on your next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Special Flaw:

The weight of your past can sometimes resurface unexpectedly. At the DM's discretion, during moments of significant stress or when facing a situation similar to your past failure, you may be required to make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you become distracted, imposing disadvantage on your next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw as memories of your past mistake cloud your focus.
