Every tool has its purpose, and knowing which focus to use grants you different benefits in the magic you wield.
Wand: You can add your proficiency bonus to the damage total of spells cast using a wand. You can draw a wand as a free action.
Staff: When you cast a spell that requires concentration using a staff, you have advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration on that spell. You can ignore half and three quarters cover while rolling for attack spells with a staff.
Rod: When you cast a ranged attack spell using a rod, you can double the spell's range, provided the spell has a range of at least 30 feet. You can ignore half and three quarters cover while rolling for attack spells with a staff.
Orb: When you roll to deal damage with a spell using an orb, you can reroll the lowest damage die rolled; you must use the new result. Additionally, increase your Charisma, Intelligence, or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
