Your mind is exposed to the endless torment and suffering that is an inevitable and intrinsic aspect of life. You are driven to a feverous madness that calls upon you to deliver life from its suffering and return tortured souls back to their maker with the devouring flame of frenzy. You seek to incinerate the conscious world.
When a creature becomes cursed by this madness, the creature starts at 1 level of madness on the table below. As a creature gains levels of this madness, it retains all of the benefits of the lower levels but the cost changes. Low level magics such as Remove Curse can lower the cursed creatures curse level, but more powerful magics such as Greater Restoration are required to rid the creature of the curse.
Level 1:
Benefits - Your melee attacks now deal an additional 1d6 fire damage. You gain access to the Howl of Shabriri spell, using either your Intelligence or Wisdom as your spellcasting modifier, whichever is higher. You may cast the spell once per long rest, but additional casts will require a spell slot.
Cost - After completing a long rest you cannot benefit from another long rest until you land the killing blow on a creature that has an Intelligence of six or higher, using fire damage.
Level 2:
Benefits - You gain access to the Inescapable Frenzy spell, using either your Intelligence or Wisdom as your spellcasting modifier, whichever is higher. You may cast the spell once per long rest, but additional casts will require a spell slot.
Cost - You must now land the killing blow on two creatures that have an Intelligence of six or higher, using fire damage before you may gain the benefits of another long rest.
Level 3:
Benefits - You gain access to the Midra's Flame of Frenzy spell, using either your Intelligence or Wisdom as your spellcasting modifier, whichever is higher. You may cast the spell once per long rest, but additional casts will require a spell slot. Additionally, when landing the killing blow on a creature with an Intelligence of six or higher using the spells granted by this curse, you regain the usage or spell slot used to cast the spell.
Cost - You are no longer capable of gaining the benefits of a long rest through resting. Instead, whenever you land the killing blow on a creature that has an Intelligence of six or higher using fire damage, roll a d20 against a DC of 20. The DC of this roll is cumulatively reduced by one each time it is rolled until a success. On a success, you immediately gain the benefits of a long rest and the DC resets to 20.
